In the summer of 2019 the Community Alliance contracted with Moonstone Environmental to test three sites near sludged fields for PFAS compounds and other toxins. PFAS was found at all three sites at levels below the EPA mandated 70 PPT but above levels currently regulated or proposed by 10 states for drinking water:
Route 611 | 44.8 PPT |
Little Martins Creek | 52.0 PPT |
Belvidere-Martins Creek Highway | 19.9 PPT |
The Little Martins Creek sample is striking in having been taken at a location far removed from any infrastructure that could have been a source of contamination.
